RESEARCH

DISNEY PIXAR: SOUL- INTO THE ZONE

In the first stages of my FMP, I started to look at movies that had meaningful scenes that portrayed the fresh feeling of discovering something that would hold a sentimental value in one's life forever. The first movie I had looked into was Disney Pixar movie 'Soul'. In the movie soul, there's a particular scene called 'Into The Zone'. Soul captured the feeling of being fully immersed in a 'moment'. This scene helped me understand how to set an atmosphere for my animation. I loved how much I could relate to being in the zone when doing something I had enjoyed.

Later on in my research, I based it on my second idea doing an animation based on 'core memories'. The core memory idea was going to be compilation of people's account on their heart warming core memory. Inside out was the perfect movie that captured the essence of what it is like to look back on a core memory. In the video, we see the character joy looking back on her memorable moments with the character 'Riley'.

PIXAR: INSIDE OUT- RILEY'S MEMORIES

DISNEY: TINKERBELL- PIXIE HOLLOW

The 'choosening' idea stemmed solely from the movie 'Tinkerbell'. In the beginning scene of Tinkerbell, Tinkerbell is born and is face to face with choosing her talent. The scene shows a layout of equipment or asset from the different fairy kinds. Later in the video, when Tinkerbell draws closer to the hammer it begins to glow. The reason I chose this to be apart of my research because I was aiming to create a story that showcased the first raw emotion of the instantaneous connection between us and our talent. I loved the fact that looking back at this scene as an adult, I still feel the same feeling I felt when I discovered I could sing at the age of 9.

MY BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL: CHANGE THE WORDS

This video was a campaign about discrimination towards the black community. This video was originally for my first idea. In m first idea I wanted to animate a poem that uplifted the black community and inspired many on what it feels like to be black and creative. I found that the message that was being told through this video was breathtaking because it spoke to me in a way where I felt like I needed to hear those words. This video felt like it was aiming towards my inner child.

TUTORIAL: LEARNING ABOUT THE TRAX EDITOR

In my FMP, I had ran into a little issue regarding the audio. The issue consisted of trying to move the audio to a later section of my animation. Through this tutorial I had learnt about the 'Trax editor'. Similar to the graph editor, the Trax editor allows animators to crop, move and edit the audio in your scene. This tutorial was straightforward and direct to exact solution I was looking for.

TUTORIAL: TRANSPARENCY, DISPEARING OBJECTS

Lastly, my final part of my research was based around how to animate an object disappearance. Originally my first approach to this was to toggle off the 'visibility' CTRL in the channel box, however unfortunately this specific animation was not that simple.
