Framestore is an animation studio that collectively puts their creative talents together to sculpt what the future creative industry would look like. Working across Film, advertising, television and immersive, they ensure that all visionaries in all sectors get an opportunity to produce captivate their targeted audience in all their projects. Through the talent of creation, they've managed to make remarkable images and scenes  utlising, new technologies. Framestore have been able to branch out and work alongside other film studios such as, 'Marvel', 'Warner Bros.' and many more.

Why Framestore?

What role am I looking to go into?

Over the two years and coming onto my last final year at Ravensbourne University, I have learned a lot about my own capabilities, strength and weaknesses across my degree. Evidently, I love how Framestore don't just stick to one sector in terms of area of entertainment, there's an opportunity to go into something new. Although, Framestore focus mainly on the VFX side of animation, I'd hope to be able to attain the skills of realism in my future projects one day.  

About the Animator role at 'Framestore'

The Animator role at Framestore produce the motions, gestures and three-dimensional computer graphic characters and objects.

Sony Pictures Animation

•From movies such as, Hotel Transylvania to Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse”. Sony has always been one of my personal all-time favourites in terms of animation studios that cater to age groups. Sony Pictures Animation, was founded in 2002, in being apart of the division of Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Group. Sony Pictures Animation are made up of 3 main sectors being; ‘Artists’, ‘Filmmakers’ and ‘executives.

About Animator Role

•Sony Animation studio would require me to move abroad. Although this may not be what I may want in the future, I still deem Sony Picture Animation as a big goal to aim for in terms of their project. Similar to Framestore, I will also be looking to go into the role of an animator, specifically Character performance animation.

Possess a strong understanding of the principles of animation.

Must have knowledge of the software  packages, including ‘Maya’ specifically.

2 year diploma or 1 year certificate however minimal requirement of 2-3 years of relevant experience.

Must have knowledge of animal and human anatomy as well as life drawings skills.

•DNEG animation main focus is positive power storytelling. DNEG is one of the world’s leading visual effects and animation studios for area such as, feature film and television. In their 20 years of experience they have won an Seven Academy Awards for ‘Best VFX’. DNEG believe that collaboration is key and that building close working relationships with filmmakers is important to them. Their projects excel on collaborative, creative energy as it helps deliver exhilarating projects.

Must have extensive experience with Maya and Lunix .

 

Solid understanding of animation department

workflows and how they fit wider production pipeline.

 

Effectively communicate with animators including those with technical knowledge.
